Back to school season has come and gone and I am behind, as usual. It’s actually October and I’m finally getting around to posting these adorable BACK TO SCHOOL Rice Krispie Treats. Better late than never right? The story of my life is basically always being late. Maybe some of you can relate.
I just turned 40 this past July and thought I had most of my life figured out. I’ve worked from home the past several years and just recently went full time. It was something I actually wished for, for a very long time. Working full time would allow me to stop side hustling and settle down a bit. Well, I got what i wished for and guess what? The grass isn’t any greener on this side of the fence. Sigh. It’s not exactly as I dreamed and now I’m floundering. 40 years old and I have NO idea what I want to be when I grow up. I didn’t think I wanted to blog anymore but now here I am again. Maybe this is what I needed, a swift kick in the butt to get back into the swing of things.
So, back to the task at hand: these adorable Rice Krispie Notebook Treats! How cute are they? Even sweeter, I used store bought Rice Krispie Treats and fondant and they were super easy to put together. So, even if it’s not the first, second, or heck even the third week of school these cuties will still make your kiddo smile!
Ingredients & Materials
Directions:
*Makes approximately 8 Notebook Paper Rice Krispies.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Using a small amount of powdered sugar as you would flour, gently roll the white fondant out to about 1/4" thick (similar to sugar cookies) and use the cookie cutter to gently cut it into rectangles. Repeat this process until you have 8 white fondant rectangles. Place them on the lined baking sheet and let sit for a few hours to firm up.
Once the fondant is firm, use the ruler the and edible markers to make 'lines' on the fondant so that it looks like paper. Repeat with all rectangles.
Open the Kellogg's Rice Krispie Treats and discard the wrappers.
Spread a little bit of frosting on the top of each Rice Krispie Treat and top with a fondant 'paper'.
Use a dab of frosting to adhere the red candy to the paper.
Repeat with all treats.
