These Fall Tree Cupcakes are as easy to make as they are to eat!

Fall has sprung here in Northern Michigan. I can tell by the ginormous amount of rainy days we’ve had since the end of September. It rains at least 3-4 days a week. The days the sun does make an appearance I just want to curl up in a warm sun spot on the couch and read a good book or take a nap.

These fall tree cupcakes are perfect for autumn. The leaves are already starting to fall in our area which means it will soon be Halloween and Thanksgiving and I’m hoping we have a few more sunny days a head!

These cupcakes use a box mix (I’m a total semi-homemade kind of mom) and melted chocolate on wax paper to make the trees. From start to finish they took only a few hours to make and that was because I had to let the chocolate trees set.

Ingredients:

  • cupcake liners

Directions:

  1. Microwave the candy melts per the package instructions and place into a decorating or small plastic bag. Snip off the corner of the bag and squeeze the chocolate onto the parchment paper forming the outline of a tree with small branches.
  2. Make sure not to make the trees much taller than 2 inches otherwise they might topple over on the cupcakes. Also, take note to make the tree trunks thick so they’re sturdy.
  3. Once the tree has been piped, sprinkle fall leaves onto the chocolate while it’s wet so the leaves stick. Make between 20-24 trees (a couple will break during assembly).
  4. Allow the trees to set about 30 minutes. You can also put them in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to cool faster.
  5. Combine the box mix ingredients for the cupcakes. Bake and cool the cupcakes completely.
  6. Generously frost cupcakes and place one tree on top of each frosted cupcake.
  7. Repeat for all cupcakes and add a few more sprinkles of leaves if you’d like.
